The Crew

An introduction to the students, in their own words:

Nadine: Nadine is in her 2nd year at Capilano University studying in the Arts and Sciences General program. She is passionate about Anthropology as well as languages and aspires to make a career of the two disciplines. She is very excited to be part of the SVAP and hopes that this experience will assist her in narrowing down the field of Anthropology that she will pursue. 

Nadine has chosen to do the photography for her personal project in the field school.


Richard:  I am a first year anthropology student, exploring archaeology as my potential focus.  I reckon the fieldwork experience may seal that decision as I am enthused to immerse myself in the outdoors.

Richard will be doing level bags as his personal project for the field school.

Kelsey: I am taking the Arts & Sciences General studies at Capilano University. Like many others, in my first year at Cap I chose to take an archaeology class because it fit my schedule and it sounded like an interesting class. Now I love archaeology.My other interests, include sketching, painting, travelling, hiking, biking, canoeing and field hockey. I am very excited to be part of this year’s field school.

Kelsey will be doing line drawings for her personal project for the field school.

Ananda: Ananda studied Early Childhood Education at Capilano University for the last four years, and is now undertaking the final electives needed for her undergraduate degree. She is planning to study abroad towards a master's degree in Early childhood Education and Care; ultimately she would like to obtain a teaching certificate to teach elementary school in creative and non traditional ways.

 Ananda is doing  public education for her personal field school project.

Wendy: Wendy will be in charge of documenting and filming aspects of the field school for her personal project.

Tiana: Tiana is doing the artifact catalogue for the field school this year.

Stuart: Stuart will be in charge of the Field School 2013 waste audit.

Amanda: Amanda has chosen to produce a photo catalogue as her personal field school project.

Jeneva: Jeneva is in her fourth year at Capilano University taking General Studies. She has recently become interested in anthropology and is considering pursuing a career in archaeology.  Being a part of the Capilano University Field School is a great opportunity where she can get a hands-on experience in the field which will ultimately help her to determine her future with the subject.

Jeneva is classifying ceramics for this years field school.


Erinn: Erinn is a fourth year student at UBC who is interested in pursuing archaeology as a career. She doesn't know where she'd like to work in the world yet, but is looking to forward to travelling and learning about new cultures. Her interests are in forensic archaeology and medical anthropology.and she is looking to pursue both of these interests in her future career. Erinn is an avid soccer player and has a strange knack for winning any card game she tries!

Erinn is doing bottle classification for the  field school this year.

 Nathan: Nathan will be dating artifacts as his personal project for the field school.

Cameron: Cameron is correlating artifacts with features for his personal field school project.

Kathleen: Kathleen has chosen to date the artifacts for her personal project for the field school.

Caitlin: Caitlin is going to school for marine biology. She has wanted to be a marine biologist since she was little and watching Jaques Cousteau cartoons. She enjoys scuba diving and hopes to do deep diving up to 200 ft. Caitlin has never studied anthropology or archaeology, but is finiding it to be interesting and is excited to be part of the field school.


 Caitlin has chosen botanical analysis as her personal field project.
