Today students hiked back in to the site after a 5 day weekend. Despite crossing our fingers, the rain had returned and made for a soggy day back at the grind.

Bob divided us back in to our five groups of three, and we continued to excavate the transects from where we left off last Wednesday. All groups were able to complete their excavations on the south side of the camp, and by the afternoon everyone had moved on to working the grid on the north end.

Each group was successful in finding cultural materials. Students found pieces of tin cans, bottle glass, and nails of various sizes. The bottle glass in one test excavation had been melted, and one piece of glass had a nail in it ( the glass was melted around the nail). A couple of groups also found some large cedar planks buried under the over growth.
